At Tahatai Coast School we are committed to understanding and honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi Principles in all actions and decision making. We engage with our local iwi, hapū, kāhui ako and our Māori whānau to discuss and advocate for participation, protection and partnership, and explore them through the lense of Te Ao Māori within our kura. This enables us to support our Māori learners to achieve excellent and equitable outcomes.

Whānau Māori Ropū

We aim to hold Whānau Māori Hui are twice every term, to further strengthen and support our kura and tamariki to ensure a Te Ao Māori lense is present and evolving. It is also a means to build on whānaungatanga, feeling connected and having a sense of belonging and grounding at Tahatai.

Our commitment to uphold this space within our kura is important. An invitation is sent out to all Whānau Māori before each hui. Tamariki are welcome to come along and we conclude our hui with a kai.

If you have any paatai about the Whānau Māori Ropū or about any upcoming hui, please contact Whaea Louise Broederlow by email [email protected]
