Principal's Welcome

On behalf of the students, staff and TCS community I’d like to warmly welcome you to the Tahatai Coast School learning community."

I am very proud to be a part of Tahatai Coast School .

Firstly I need to acknowledge our wonderful school community who make Tahatai Coast School (or often referred to as TCS) such an incredible place to come to work each day. The students, staff, parents and whānau are what make our school the special place it is - that and the fact we are located only 2 minutes’ walk from the stunning white sands of Papamoa Beach!

At TCS our students are at the centre of all that we do and our aim is to provide an excellent education for every child in a caring, happy atmosphere. We want students to feel secure to develop self-confidence in a supportive busy and active environment, where forming positive memories are central to our learning and growth. However we also acknowledge that life is not always smooth sailing, so at TCS we support students when they make mistakes and use these as a way to build resilience and help them to reach their true potential. Our students learn how to work and play together, to share, act with integrity, be responsible and to think of others and not just themselves.

At Tahatai Coast School we strive to offer a wide range of academic, cultural and sporting activities to ensure that children can participate in, and experience success in, a range of areas. Our high expectations for learning and behaviour - alongside our school values of Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Perseverance and Personal Excellence - support our positive, inclusive environment. An important part of our school’s character is the regular recognition, celebration of effort, progress and achievement.

As a school community we believe in the importance of forming positive relationships and developing a deep understanding of our students’ strengths, weaknesses and co-construction of  new learning goals. As a staff we are committed to working in partnership with parents and whānau to recognise every child’s diverse abilities, interests, and ethnicity, and aim to provide a wide range of programmes to meet these individual needs. We want our students to make new friends, form new ideas, be risk takers, and confront new and exciting challenges.

When you enrol your child at Tahatai Coast School you are agreeing to be a partner in your child’s learning. This is really important to us as you are their first teachers and working together we will achieve so much more. By the end of their time at Tahatai Coast School you will see them graduate as confident, connected, actively involved lifelong learners, ready for their intermediate and college years.

Please explore our wonderful website further, which has been lovingly built by one of our parents. And please feel free to come and visit us anytime.

Nga mihi

Matt
